Should 49ers Target Odell?

The relationship between Odell Beckham Jr and the New York Giants seems to be getting worse and worse as time goes on. A story was reported that Beckham would not play until he is given a contract extension.  It now looks as if the Giants may be ready to completely avoid the situation and trade Beckham and if that is the next move for the Giants the 49ers should be the first one on the phone trying to make a deal happen.

Adding Beckham would give the 49ers a true number one receiver.  We all seen how productive Pierre Garcón was with Brian Hoyer and CJ Beathard, we also seen how good Marquise Goodwin can be when he has a QB that can get him the ball but at the end of the day neither of them gives you what Beckham would give you.  Beckham makes the 49ers such a passing threat because teams can’t focus on one receiver at anytime, both Goodwin and Beckham can beat teams over the top, you then have Garcón and Trent Taylor who can run the underneath routes that could turn into large gains because they both run well after the catch.  A passing game like this would also do wonders for the running game. Beckham is the number one receiver the 49ers need and should want and if all it takes is the number 9 pick and a few others, the 49ers should jump all over this opportunity to land a game changing player like Beckham.

Of course the worry for any team that will look to possibly add Beckham will be his diva attitude.  That shouldn’t stop the 49ers for looking into this deal because it could be as simple as a change of scenery and a locker room that will not allow some of the behavior he has displayed with the Giants.  Could this be a risky move for the 49ers? Yes. Is it worth the risk? Yes!
